World Missions

World missions is a priority in the Church of the Nazarene. We take seriously the charge by Jesus found in Matthew 28:19-20. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Today the Church of the Nazarene is in 150 different world areas. We have 739 missionaries both salaried and volunteer. These missionaries originate from 30 different world areas.

At the local level we promote missions through the Nazarene Missions International, or NMI. Through the NMI we sponsor mission education, and prayer for our missionaries. We also promote hands-on mission experience through Work and Witness Trips.

The NMI is also the fund raising arm of our mission work. Faith Promise is our primary fund raising effort. Faith Promise is scheduled giving for missions. We may give weekly, monthly, or at other intervals. The key is to give as God has laid it upon our heart with faith that He will supply the funds necessary to meet what we have pledged.

Periodically we have the opportunity to host missionaries on furlough. Through them we learn first hand of the exciting things going on in missions and we have an opportunity to give directly to the work they are doing.

We also sponsor a LINKS missionary with whom we are linked in prayer for their work. We also send cards of encouragement and gifts to them periodically.

Our NMI President is Barbara Adams.
