Vacation Bible School

On August 2-6, from 6:30-8:30 we will be having VBS.  This year's theme is Deep Sea Adventure.  Once again we will begin with water day on Sunday, August 1, following the morning service.

As I was doing my early morning chores on my urban farm I began to notice a pattern.  As I gathered the eggs from my 4 laying hens, I had to enter their fenced in coop.  They are not free to roam.  I also escorted our two dogs to their pen to spend the day, and fed and watered the 2 four week old chicks that were hatched in a friend’s class room, and the 4 two week old guineas that my wife just had to have, all in their cages.  I also fed the 11 fish confined to our koi pond, and tended to the two lizards that our kids just had to have, now living in a cage in our living room.  As you can see, my farm consists of animals all nicely confined to their own little spaces.

Forty miles out into the Gulf of Mexico, Associated Press writer Rich Matthews goes diving into the oil that has poured into the Gulf.  It is a horrible ordeal as the oily scum quickly coats everything until he feels just like one of the pelicans seen coated with oil and dying on the seashore.  Under the water it is dark, oily, and lifeless.  Ten minutes into the dive he is ready to get back to the boat.

On June 4-6 we had an amazing Experiencing God Weekend.  God moved in our lives in many different ways.  While the weekend is over, Experiencing God is not.

It had been such an amazing victory.  They had marched around the city of Jericho seven times that day, and as they came around the seventh time the trumpets blew and the people shouted and the walls fell down.  What an amazing sight.  The people inside were so afraid and confused that they attacked each other.  The people with Joshua hardly had to lift a hand.
